Leopard 3.

Supporting the continued evolution of a 100-foot maxi.

Carbo-Link's work on Leopard 3 spans CL ELLIPSE standing rigging, a weight- and stiffness-optimized carbon boom, new carbon rudders, and ongoing daggerboard work.

The project combines experience across rigging, spars, and structural appendages to support the continued development of an established racing yacht first launched in 2007.

SPECIFICATIONS

  • Length: 30.51m

  • Naval Architect: Farr

  • Builder: McConaghy

01. STANDING RIGGING

CL ELLIPSE rigging package.

The requirement

  • Complement a new mast with the stiffest rigging for a given EA at the smallest cross-section. The rigging must be durable and reliable for heavy-weather offshore sailing and resist chafe from drop lines, spinnaker sheets, and other running rigging. The rigging must interface with the supplied mast geometries and fittings.

The solution

  • CL ELLIPSE lateral rigging

  • CL SOLID forestay

  • CL SOLID bobstay

  • CL HYBRID ELLIPSE running backstays

02. CARBON BOOM

Carbon boom.

The requirement

  • Primary goal was to reduce weight whilst optimising the bending characteristics for a defined set of load cases.

The solution

  • Custom tooling for optimised shape

  • Ultra-high-modulus carbon boom

  • Inboard end pusher system

  • All Titinium fittings and interfaces
