DEEP BLUE
CL ELLIPSE RIGGING
Deep Blue — Precision Engineering Meets Lightweight Racing Performance
Launched in 2020, Deep Blue (BP318) is a 25.9 m carbon-fibre racing sloop designed by Botin & Partners and built by King Marine in Valencia. With her lightweight hull, 7.0 m lifting keel, and minimalist, performance-driven architecture, she was conceived as a pure offshore racer capable of exceptional speed and handling.
In the summer of 2025, Deep Blue underwent a significant performance upgrade when she was equipped with a complete Carbo-Link CL Ellipse rigging package. Custom-engineered to fit her existing mast, this new generation of rigging delivers maximum stiffness, reduced windage, and precise load control. CL Ellipse cables, elliptically profiled solid-carbon elements, are designed to minimise weight aloft while increasing efficiency, durability, and competitive advantage on the racecourse.
Following installation, Deep Blue successfully completed her first sea trials with the Carbo-Link rigging, confirming the system’s seamless integration and immediate impact on her sailing performance. With this upgrade, she is ready to push the limits of modern grand-prix yacht racing.
