Maxi 72 "MOMO" chooses Carbo-Link's proven elliptical technology
After years of supplying elliptical rigging to the America's Cup and IMOCA class it is MOMO, from the Maxi 72 fleet, who chooses Carbo-Link's proven elliptical technology. Working with the Vrolijk design office and cutting-edge CFD analysis programs, the gains from elliptical rigging became well documented and evident.
The rigging interfaced perfectly with the existing Southern Spars mast without the need for any changes or structural work to the spreader tips. All lengths were measured by Carbo-Link and discussed with Southern in advance to ensure the most efficient transition process.
MOMO also took advantage of Carbo-Link's superior solid rigging characteristics, opting for a stiffer forestay. The gains in stiffness, and subsequent mast stability and tuning advantages, came at little expense with regards to diameter and weight increase over the existing and significantly less stiff forestay. All fittings were designed to interface with the exiting mast hanger and hull chainplate. Again no alterations were required to any strucutral interfaces.
